What is Orientation Week (O-Week)?
O-Week focuses on introducing you to Laurier and allowing you to experience first-hand the culture that makes our university so special. O-week events will help you learn how to balance elements of student life while achieving academic success, enjoy life in the cities of Waterloo and Brantford, and to meet your peers! This jam packed week is a can’t miss for any new Golden Hawks looking to start their Laurier journey on the right foot!

When is Orientation Week happening?
Orientation Week runs from Monday September 6th to Saturday September 11th. Each day will have a schedule of events curated by your fellow Golden Hawks to give you the best experience possible.

Why should I participate in O-Week?

O-Week will be the best and first opportunity for you to become familiar with not only the campus and city, but Laurier life in general. We will not only show you around campus but you will have a chance to meet other students in your program, on your Residence floor or Off-Campus Community through a number of social opportunities that have been planned by our campus experts….Students! Through this whole week, you will have a personalized group of Laurier experts - we call them Ice Breakers - who will be your guides and supports through the whole program. These passionate students have been in your shoes and have learned all the tips and tricks to finding your way around campus, who to talk to about what and finding the best food on and around campus!

What type of events are there during Orientation Week?
O-Week offers events for everyone. Whether you are a traditional first year student, an international student or a mature/transfer student we have programs for all. There are programs geared towards your academic success, social belonging and learning what it means to be a Laurier Golden Hawk. Some examples of past programming include: Student Success Sessions, Trivia Nights, Headphone Disco, Concerts, Keynote Speakers and more.

Is O-Week Mandatory?
The O-Week program is not mandatory. You are welcome to attend as much or as little as you see fit. With that being said though, we do strongly recommend you attend as much as possible as the events will give you the best opportunity to meet others, connect with campus and learn what it means to be a Laurier Golden Hawk.

How much does O-Week cost?
The vast majority of O-Week is completely free to participate in. However, there are a few events that will require a ticket. Visit tickets.yourstudentsunion.ca to learn more.
